What is unique about Satyananda Yoga?

Satyananda Yoga takes a classical approach truly suitable for people of ALL ages and abilities.

  1. Recognizing the we are more than just physical beings, we explore much more than asana (postures) - breathing practices (pranayama), progressive meditation techniques and more are developed to promote wellbeing on all levels.

  2. You learn how to adapt the practices so they are fully support your whole being.

  3. We guide you to bring yoga into your daily life, off the yoga-mat.

What types of learning opportunities do you offer?

  • Online Yoga Classes: Currently not offered . These classes include asana, pranayama, and meditation. Come to one of our classes to begin your yoga journey or to deepen your practice.

  • Online Workshops: We offer on-demand workshops (previously recorded) as well as live workshops. Special topics covered in workshops provide opportunities to deepen your practice, on and off the mat! Experienced teachers and Yogaacharyas (master teacher of yoga) from around the world present on a variety of topics, blending theory and practice. Click for on-demand online workshops.

  • Online Home Study Courses: These courses are offered on-demand and provide in-depth study and practice of key techniques. The current offering includes: Satyananda Yoga Nidra. A Prana & Pranayama home study course will be launching soon, and a Meditation course is expected to launch later this year.

  • Online Teacher Certification Courses: We offer teacher certification in Satyananda Yoga Nidra. This course integrates home study with teacher training and is ideal for teachers desiring to bring new techniques to their students All of our certification courses include student teaching and one-on-one mentoring with a senior instructor - even if you live at a distance. ​

  • Yoga Teacher Training Courses: In the past we have conducted Yogic Studies and Teacher Training courses. These are comprehensive courses covering the multidimensional aspects of yoga and offer students and teachers of all styles an opportunity to deepen their knowledge, taking their personal practice and teaching to the next level. We are not currently offering these programs, but hope to offer Yogic Studies in 2022.

  • Most courses and workshops may be applied to Yoga Alliance continuing education requirements.

Why are your courses longer than other places?

Our courses are specifically designed for serious students who want true, university-level depth of exploration. Home Study periods allow you to embody - not just learn - your practices. You receive unparalleled mentoring and support so you can practice and teach from experience rather than memorization.

Are you registered with Yoga Alliance? How do I become a certified Satyananda Yoga instructor?

We currently do not offer yoga teacher training. For our programs offered in the past, completion of Yogic Studies 1 and Teacher Training 1 permitted you to apply for the 200-hr Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) designation and Accreditation as a Satyananda Yoga Level 1 Teacher. Completion of the above plus Yogic Studies 2 and Teacher Training 2 permitted you to apply for the 500-hr Yoga Alliance RYT designation and Accreditation as a Satyananda Yoga Level 2 Teacher.

Do you offer continuing education programs?

Many of our workshops and courses meet continuing education requirements for Yoga Alliance. We are happy to provide relevant information for students seeking continuing education units through other professional organizations.

How much do your trainings cost? Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?

Course tuitions for our online courses may be found on our online platform.

We do not offer direct financial aid. Accredited Satyananda Yoga teachers wishing to pursue Satyananda Yoga Nidra teacher certification may apply for the Carol Ann Hensley Scholarship.
