Monthly Maha-mrit-yun-jaya Mantra Chanting for Health & Healing.

Every Saturday, at the Bihar School of Yoga and other Satyananda Yoga centers around the world - in homes, yoga centres, or ashrams– people gather to chant a healing mantra called the Maha-mrit-yun-jaya mantra.

This mantra is chanted 108 times, completing one round of a mala. It is a universal mantra from the Vedic tradition, and is chanted for health, healing, wellbeing and support during challenging times.

This mantra is often combined with an ancient fire ceremony,  known as Havan. This ritual amplifies the effects of the mantra and helps to purify the environment.

With the repetition of each mantra Samagri and ghee are offered to the fire. Samagri is a mixture of aromatic herbs, grains and seeds that cleanse and purify the environment.

As per the tradition, we will read out aloud the names of individuals, intentions, or reasons for remembrance, along with their location, before we begin chanting 108 rounds of the Maha-mrit-yun-jaya mantra.

Throughout the practice we hold the intention of health, happiness and wellbeing for all in our hearts while chanting,
