Trauma Sensitive Yoga Workshop

WHAT EVERY YOGA INSTRUCTOR NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT TRAUMA

Trauma is universal.

  • What is our role as yoga instructors?

  • Do you have students who …

    • have survived an accident, had surgery, or who live with an illness?

    • are veterans, caregivers, inmates, refugees, or from a minority group?

    • are women?

    • are living through a pandemic?!

  • What do we need to know?

In this 4-part workshop you’ll learn and understand

  • the fundamentals of trauma - what it is, what it’s not

  • how trauma affects our body, brain, and behavior

  • how and why Yogic practices and a prepared Yoga classroom help manage the effects of trauma and support healing

Understand trauma and make your Yoga classes and practice supportive and transformative for survivors. Many of us, knowingly or unknowingly, come to a Yoga mat with the hopes of managing the effects of chronic or acute trauma, and other states of high stress (like a pandemic!).

This workshop is for you and your students. You will be more informed and able to make decisions towards making your classroom set-up and practices more supportive and transformative for all.

This workshop is informative and interactive.

  • Based on contemporary research & therapeutic approaches to trauma

  • Draws from the Yogic sciences.

Be prepared for a combination of theory, discussion and simple homework that will help you immediately apply workshop take-aways in your classroom and personal life.

The workshop is designed for Yoga instructors, but will be valuable to Yoga practitioners as well. Yoga practitioners are welcome to join.
