Sacred Chants - Gaṇeśa

Time: 5:15PM - 6:15PM EST (USA)

Location: Online via Zoom

Chanting sheets: Words will be screen-shared via Zoom.

Register here for chanting sheets.

Join us weekly to explore the imagery, meaning, and joy inherent in spiritual chants. In yoga the body and mind are nothing but compressed energy which respond positively to the vibrations of chants and are great way to connect with deeper aspects of ourselves.

We will chant, listen together to meditative renderings of the same, explore the related stories, and where appropriate, imbibe the deep meaning through the commentaries of spiritual masters. We will spend several weeks on each chant to provide ample opportunity to have a meaningful experience as well as for inspiration to make chanting a regular part of your practice.

Gaṇeśa: Lord of Obstacles

Stories and Inspiration from the Purāṇas

Gaṇeśa is widely revered as the remover of obstacles; the patron of arts and sciences; and the lord of intellect and wisdom. He presides over beginnings and is honored at the start of rites and ceremonies.! We will encounter in his manifold aspects through his stories as well as engage in various chants including the Gaṇeśa Atharva Śīrṣam, which asserts that Gaṇeśa is same as the eternal underlying reality, Brahman.
