Monthly Satsang - Coming Together as Community

“Satsang” is a combination of two sanskrit words: sat meaning “Truth” and sanga meaning “in company of”. So when we gather for satsang we are coming together in the company or community of Truth.

The Yoga Academy of North America (YANA),are delighted to be host these monthly informal gatherings of spiritual reflection, discussion, meditation and other practices to support each other on the journey of living yoga from moment to moment.

Each month we will invite master teachers (acharyas), aspiring yogis/yoginis, sevaks and devotees of the Satyananda Yoga community to offer support & inspiration on the path of yogic living.

Understanding Mantra Sadhana

with Swami Muktibodhananda

April 13th, 6pm EST (April 14th, 8am Australia)

The benefits of incorporating mantra into our sadhana and daily life are manifold. The chosen mantra can act as a constant reminder of our values, goals and/or desired states of being.

The outcomes and effects may be quite different depending on the type of mantra used, whether Vedic or Tantric.  Repeating a mantra  throughout the day, even briefly, can subtly shift our perspective, helping us navigate challenges with greater equanimity and maintain a positive outlook.

Whether it's our guru mantra or a mantra for compassion, strength, or peace, mantra can empower us to embody these qualities in our interactions and decisions. 


During this 75 minute satsang, Swami Muktibodhananda will delve into the use of Vedic and Tantric mantra, offering guidance on when and how to use them depending on what our  purpose may be. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences working with mantra as well as ask any questions on the topic.


Ultimately, mantra repetition to cultivate health, inner peace, focus, and intentionality enriches both our meditative practice and overall well-being.

About Swami Muktibodhananda Saraswati


Swami Muktibodhananda Saraswati is a world-class exponent of the Satyananda Yoga system. She is a yogacharya, or master teacher of yoga, who enjoys teaching ancient yogic practices to a modern day audience.

She started her yoga journey in  1972 and studied under the direct guidance of Swami Satyananda for 10 years in India.  During this time she authored Swara Yoga: The Tantric  Science of Brain Breathing, and the internationally acclaimed translation and commentary Hatha Yoga Pradipika: Light on Hatha Yoga.

Based in Brisbane, Australia, she  continues to teach and lecture on the various aspects of yoga and tantra in Australia and abroad.:
